We look forward to hosting you in East Central Saskatchewan!
East Central Saskatchewan will leave you spellbound and surprised, as the landscape transforms itself from valley and prairies in the south, to the magnificent boreal forest in the north.
In earlier years it was a land of fur traders, Hudson Bay trading posts, and colorful immigrants; today it is a region of prosperous farms, villages, towns and cities, vast natural resources, wildlife and urban life, the best snowmobiling in western Canada, and abundant history to explore.
It is Mother Nature at her grandest: parkland, farmland, wilderness highlands, forests and river valleys. Add three provincial parks, intriguing historic sites, colourful cultural heritage and some of the west's best country music gatherings, and this is where your vacation comes alive.
Provincial parks include the wilderness of Wildcat, the pristine waters of Greenwater Lake, the sandy beaches of Good Spirit and the forests of Duck Mountain. And for snowmobiling enthusiasts, East Central is a winter playground.
Local and provincial history can be explored in the region's numerous museums, from the Story of People at the Western Development Museum in Yorkton, to personal stories in the many local museums maintained by volunteers in most towns.
Campers and recreation lovers will find no shortage of spots to hike, tent or set up a trailer for a day, a weekend or a week. Bring your tackle box, relax and fish the many lakes of the region.
